"The (Not So) New Club."
With history dating all the way back to 1832, that makes this one of the top-15 oldest courses in the world. Because of such rich history, the remaining members in 1963 didn't think it right to still have the name "North Berwick New Golf Club." Thus, those three letters were banned for eternity.
